Double Down Dixie

In a haze of shaking fringe, Doubledown Dixie has been setting stages ablaze since 2000.  She began as a back up screaming go-go girl for the infamous Blue Flames and later discovered Red Light Burlesque in 2003.  With her love of music ranging from the Cramps to Otis Redding she has performed with Andre Williams at both 2002's Las Vegas Rockaround and multiple showcases for SXSW '08 and '09, Mojo Nixon, Nick Curran, Chili Coldblood,  Gary Clark Jr, the El Orbits and many more Austin favorites.  She is always happy to hop on stage and shake it up!

2009 marks Dixie's 6th year with Red Light Burlesque.  Making her home at the Continental Club, Dixie has been a must see act with Red Light Burlesque for the annual Lonestar Roundup Rod and Kustom Car Show and the Day of the Drags weekends.  She has been producing these shows since 2006.  Dixie has also been performing for Sinsations annual Erotic Carnival for the past three years.  In addition, Dixie has performed for the Alamo Drafthouse's premier of the Betty Page movie in 2005, and their Hey Homo showcase of John Waters' "Desperate Living" as well as the 2008 Texas Burlesque Festival and several showcases with the Babes in Sin, Corpus Christie chapter, and has collaborated with Etta Vendetta's Eyeful tower in '06 and '07.  She is always happy to lend a hand for a good cause and has donated her time and tassels to benefits for hurricane Katrina victims, AIDS research, battered women and fellow injured performers.

In the summer of 2008, Dixie founded the Red Light Burlesque School of Bump and Grind.  The school's philosophy revolves around the traditional art of the tease and the belief in the confidence that it builds in women of all ages, shapes, colors and sizes. Feeling sexy, confident and glamorous is something every woman deserves. Dixie is passionate about burlesque and dance in general and it's power to transform your life.  www.myspace.com/austinschoolofburlesque
